Responsibilities:

  • Assist Client director with sales planning through the creation of demand forecasts using information from sales, POS, and other external data.
  • Assist Customer Account Manager’s in the development of customer plans/projections and upload into client systems with the assistance of Trade Management Specialists.
  • Proactively investigate forecast accuracy, performance, assessing deviations and supporting re-forecasting as appropriate, communicating findings and recommendations to the necessary departments when appropriate.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence through POS analysis and research.
  • Support Client director in identifying the impact on future promo plans for an update of forecast
  • Provide reporting on volume and trade spend metrics to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree required (Bachelor of Commerce preferred)
  • At least 2+ years working in a consumer goods company or a retailer, in a sales, supply-chain, marketing, or financial capacity
  • Prior customer experience working with LCL, Walmart, Costco, and Metro is an asset 
  • Working knowledge of sales management systems, demand forecasting, and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of Syndicated Data (IRI/Nielsen) and Customer Specific POS portals including Retail Link and LDIA.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including ability to access, process, simplify, and communicate complex data from multiple sources
  • Advanced Excel skills, including ability to create and utilize Pivot Tables and complex formulas such as “Look-ups”
  • Basic understanding of consumer goods sales principles including retail math and P&L
  • Ability to work successfully in an extremely fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively and independently to manage and own processes, tasks, and projects with minimal support and supervision
  • Driven individual who takes pride in her/his work and professional contributions
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator (English & French)
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and complex situations

Position Summary

 

The Analyst Sales Planning is responsible for supporting the development of sales plans by key customer that accurately reflect expected delivery against volume and spend targets. Responsible for supporting build of demand forecasting and trade spending in trade management system as well as supporting trade management with deductions clearing.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Client director with sales planning through the creation of demand forecasts using information from sales, POS, and other external data.
  • Assist Customer Account Manager’s in development of customer plans/projections and upload into client systems with assistance of Trade Management Specialists.
  • Proactively investigate forecast accuracy, performance, assessing deviations and supporting re-forecasting as appropriate, communicating findings and recommendations to the necessary departments when appropriate.
  • Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence through POS analysis and research.
  • Partner with Customer account manager and Client manager to gain a consensus forecast on key SKU’s and customers.
  • Ensure overall planned volume and trade are in line with overall top line objectives.
  • Identify forecast gaps, inaccuracies and works to close by supporting CAM/Client director with recommendations.
  • Provide clear documentation on customer sales plan assumptions including risk & offsets and builds changes into latest forecasts.
  • Assist Customer account manager and Trade management specialists in resolving issues arising from pricing and trade deduction discrepancies.
  • Assist Customer Coordinators/Trade spend analyst in the task of post promotion deduction clearing.
  • Support Client director in identifying impact on future promo plans for update of forecast
  • Provide reporting on volume and trade spend metrics to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc analysis to support ongoing planning process definition and operational improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

 

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Business (Finance/Marketing preferred)

  • 2 to 5 years of CPG experience.
  • Some combination of experience in trade marketing, account management and category management.

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
